What Devices Use USB?

When a computer or other device has a USB port, it must use a cable made for the same interface as the device. There are two types of USB connections, type A and type B. In general, both types are interchangeable, and you can use the same USB cable to connect two different devices. When purchasing a USB cable, it is best to choose the A/B connector on the end of the cord. In this way, you can avoid confusion later on.

USB has several uses. In the office, USB is an important connection for peripherals. Most computers use USB for charging batteries and transferring data. Many Bluetooth speakers and battery packs have USB ports, and the majority of accessories use microUSB. In fact, microUSB ports are common on older Apple and Android devices. USB cables are also common in Bluetooth speakers and smartwatch charging cases. These cables also work with other types of USB connections.

The first type of USB connector is Type A. Type B and C are faster than USB 2.0. USB type A and type B are backwards compatible. USB type C and micro USB have the same shape and connector, but USB type C cables are more expensive. USB Type C cables are designed to connect several devices to the same USB port. USB Type C cables can connect multiple devices, including computers and peripherals. USB Type C cables are available in a variety of lengths and connectors.

Type C is a newer type of USB connector. It is used on most modern mobile devices, with the exception of the iPhone. iPhones have adopted USB-C, but the Lightning connector still reigns supreme on Apple’s iPhone. The USB-C port also supports charging, data, and video. USB Type C is also backwards compatible with USB-A devices. Some modern computers and laptops also feature USB-C ports. Most newer iPad Pro models are USB-C compatible.

There are different types of USB connectors. The USB Type A connector, sometimes referred to as the USB standard A connector, provides a “downstream” connection for hubs and host controllers. The Type C connector is similar to the USB Type A connector, but is not universal. It is best to use a USB cable of the same type. However, different USB cables and ports have different functions. For example, a USB cable for a mobile phone should be used for charging a desktop PC.

USB Type B is a comparatively old type of USB connector. It is almost square on one end with a beveled corner. It was commonly used on large devices, but has been phased out in favor of the latest USB standards. Micro USB connectors are also popular on portable devices. These cables are smaller than USB-A, but still provide charging and data transfer. A USB Type B connector is found at the end of a USB A/B cable.
